SAN DIEGO--AC Marriott, an upscale lifestyle hotel, celebrated the groundbreaking of AC San Diego today. Located at 743 Fifth Avenue, the hotel is in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter and provides guests easy access to the San Diego Convention Center, Petco Park, Seaport Village, USS Midway Museum, Waterfront Park and a variety of shops and restaurants. AC by Marriott San Diego is owned and managed by Briad Lodging Group, LLC, the hotel division of Livingston, New Jersey-based The Briad Group. The hotel is one of 11 new properties Briad will open in the next three years.

Community representatives joined Briad executives for the groundbreaking ceremony. Slated to open in March 2021, AC San Diego will employee approximately 100 people and will feature Briad’s newest dining concept - The Bradford Fine Spirits & Tapas, a unique rooftop experience.

“We’re excited to introduce AC by Marriott to San Diego and to add a West Coast property to our growing portfolio,” said Rick Barbrick, president and co-CEO of The Briad Group. “The location is terrific and our modern, clutter-free guest rooms offer all the essentials while The Bradford delivers an enjoyable and unique experience to guests.”

AC by Marriott San Diego features a sophisticated, European-inspired design and offers 147 modern guest rooms with sleek furnishings, open closet systems and hardwood floors. Guests can enjoy all of the essentials needed for a smart and convenient stay including European-inspired breakfast options for purchase, a 24-hour fitness center featuring two Peloton® Bikes, mobile check-in/check-out and complimentary advanced Wi-Fi. Guests can relax and unwind at the hotel’s first-floor speakeasy called Love Story or The Bradford rooftop bar with an outdoor pool and cabanas. The property also offers private, flexible meeting space equipped with the latest audio-visual technology.

In addition to AC San Diego, Briad has another 10 Marriott and Hilton lifestyle and extended stay hotels in its pipeline which will open over the next three years which will bring Briad to over $630 million in hotel assets with a total of 21 properties.

“It’s an exciting time for Briad as we experience explosive growth of our hotel division,” said Barbrick. “We have a model of success built on developing the right brands in the right markets with the best staff and services. We are proud to be leaders in innovative hospitality management and look forward to continuing to provide exceptional service and accommodations.”

Briad Lodging Group was formed in 1997, when Briad became a Marriott franchisee. Five years later, the company added Hilton to its portfolio. Since obtaining these franchise rights, Briad has developed more than $400 million in real estate, concentrating on focused-service and extended stay hotels, including the Courtyard, Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, TownePlace Suites, Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites brands. During the past decade, Briad has developed, operated and managed 34 properties and has built more than 3,800 hotel rooms in the New York tri-state area alone.
